Do Not Forget the Things Your Eyes Have Seen...

In our journey of Faith and discernment, there will be “mountaintop” moments when things seem to be going great, but there will also be moments of trial. I have learned through personal experience as a Little Nun that a good way to get through our low moments is to remember our high ones and how God worked in our lives then. This is why it is so important to write down the answered prayers, the moments where we understand God speaking to us, and even the trials and how He has helped us overcome them.

We read in the Sacred Scriptures, “Then the LORD answered me and said: Write down the vision; Make it plain upon tablets, so that the one who reads it may run.” (Habakkuk 2:2) By writing down all of the ways that God has spoken to us or has worked in our lives, we can run more quickly along our spiritual journey, continuing to ponder how God is speaking to us until we fully understand (cf. Esther A:11).

God also says in Deuteronomy 4:9, “Be on your guard and be very careful not to forget the things your own eyes have seen, nor let them slip from your heart as long as you live…” When we are able to look back at the marvels the Lord has worked in our lives, it encourages us and gives us strength to push forward through our trials, knowing with certainty that He has helped us before and can help us again.
